Where to Stay
If you are looking for somewhere to stay, check out the Durham Marriott at the Durham Convention Center right in the heart of downtown. Close to shops, restaurants, theater and much more, the Marriott is a great place for your weekend trip. There is also a brand new Courtyard by Marriott scheduled to open in early 2010. There are also plans for additional hotels to be open in 2010 expanding the number of hotel rooms in downtown from 190 to over 400.

How in the world do you get around downtown? First, WALK! Downtown is only 12x14 blocks, so you can get to any location in downtown within a 10 minute walk from the City Center.
If you are looking to travel beyond downtown, you can head over to Durham Station and take the bus (Durham Area Transit Authority, Triangle Transit and Greyhound are all housed in the Station). A FREE Downtown Circulator will also begin running in late 2009 to connect Downtown, Duke University, Duke Hospital, Ninth Street, NCCU and Golden Belt. A new Amtrak station in the West Village Complex also provides train service through downtown and connects Durham to the rest of the country.
Parking is available throughout Downtown Durham via on-street parking, parking decks and parking lots. On-street parking is free in downtown, with time limits depending on location. Parking Deck parking is charged at a rate of $.75 per hour. Parking in decks for events usually incurs an additional fee.
